Dear Rotary Scholarship Committee,
I’m so grateful to have been chosen for the Rotary Scholarship to help me with my studies in the Machinist Technology Program. This scholarship isn’t just about the financial help, it’s also a huge encouragement for me as I work toward building a better future for myself and my family.
The past few years have been tough for my family. My parents run a small business, but it’s been struggling because of a big slowdown. As the fourth of six kids, my siblings and I have all pitched in to help them keep things going. We’ve spent a lot of time and effort trying to support their business, but despite everything, they almost had to retire early because of how hard it’s been. Seeing these challenges has really made me realize how important it is to build a stable and fulfilling career so I can take care of myself and help my family.
For the last few years, I’ve been working as a bicycle mechanic. At first, it seemed like it could go somewhere, but it’s turned into a dead-end job without any real opportunities to grow. I’ve also made some mistakes with my finances and other decisions during this time, which hasn’t made things any easier. All of this made me realize I needed to make some big changes in my life. That’s why I decided to pursue the Machinist Technology Program, it’s a career that offers real skills, job security, and a sense of purpose. Your scholarship has made it possible for me to focus on my education without constantly worrying about money.
This support has been a game-changer for me. I’m determined to make the most of this opportunity by doing my best in school and becoming a skilled machinist who can contribute to the community and support my family.
